The Grand Prix des 3 Frontieres is a big carpet event held in Longwy, close to the border of Luxembourg and Belgium, in northern France. The race has an entry limited to 150 drivers in TC Modified and 10.5 Stock classes. It is a 2-day event which offers plenty of track time for all competitors. Drivers from all over Europe joined the race, but mainly French and German drivers would make up the starting lists.

The track layout was open yet challenging with a medium level of traction. The controlled LRP CPX tire is as always a consistent but not very fast tire for carpet, which makes car setup a bit tricky at times. In qualifying I manged to quality 2nd overall with 1 win and 4 second places behind Ronald, the pace setter. Marc Fischer and Yannic PrĂĽmper followed. Marco Kaufmann, Valentin Hettrich and Tim Wahl all made the A-final with their XRAY T4'15 cars as well. It was especially nice to see Valentin, whom has very limited experience with Modified motors, do so well.

I managed to take two 2nd place finishes in A1 and A2, after pushing really hard to keep up. Eventually I had to settle for 2nd which is a decent result in this tough competition. I also worked on the setup to have a good base for the upcoming DHI Cup in January, which will be run with the same controlled tire.
I want to thank the organizing club of MRC Longwy for a great weekend with a lot of fun. This really is an enjoyable event and I hope to be back next year! Special thanks to Manuel Wagner for taking care of me during this trip.
